Chamba feast, Himachal Pradesh


Dahi Gosht :



   
                 To experience this mouth watering and sumptuous gosht Chamba is the right place to visit in. This extensive dish is quick enough to excite  your eyes with its aroma. Which contains mutton, curd, spices and other herbs and is more eye-catching when served with rice and salad. 
    
       It is quite sophisticated and  having an influence of different culture. It is rich in curd and is completely a non- vegetarian dish, which can spice your tongue with its flavour and appeal. It is cooked more often in muslim dhams. 


Khatta :

             Chamba dham is incomplete without khata and it plays an important role in Chamba dham. It is very good for digestion and  is eaten more often from joyous wedding ceremonies to simple daily meals. It is prepared with Gud, imli and dry fruits which makes it highly favoured among other local specialties. Khatta has special taste due to its sourness and is always enjoyed by local people.


Charodi :

                                    Charodi maker

               Charodi is cooked usually in Churah region of Distt Chamba . It can be eaten at any time of the day and is made with Atta and water. Charodi  has unique way of preparation and is very carefully and artistically  prepared, more delightfully served .It is quite tantalizing when accompanied with pure ghee, milk and sugar.  Which  is very healthy and delicious. It can be the most ideal choice for all the food lovers.


Madra :


                 One  of  the  most  authentic and outrageous dish of Distt  Chamba. The traditional method  of cooking  without garlic and onion is something opulent and the exotic savour of madra just makes you praise spontaneously. It is completely a vegetarian dish and is inseparable part  of Chamba Dham. Madra is little sour in taste and it includes kidney beans, curd  and copious amount of ghee, which is quick enough to excite your eyes.


Chukh :



                  Chukh is a traditional recipe from the valley of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. Chukh means chutney or minced pickle prepared by cooking. Chillies, salt, lemon juice, edible oil and other spices are utilized to enhance the aroma, flavour and texture. It is pleasant-tasting and aromatic. Though it is very spicy.

          There are three types of chukh - green chukh, red chukh and ginger garlic chukh. Which is quite popular all over Himachal. When chutney is eaten it is usually chukh with the main course. It can also be eaten with chapatti, prantha and breads.  


Jarees :

          Jarees is a mouth freshner. Coconut, saunf, supari, mishri and other ingredients are used and the freshness of ingredients is important. Although it is  often served towards the end of  meals. The delicious flavour of jarees gives you freshness and is really tasty. It can be found in almost every local household of Chamba valley.
