A TRIP TO BHURSHING MAHADEV

Bhurshing Mahadev is an exquisite Lord Shiva temple built in commemoration of local deity Bhur Singh and his sister and is believed to be the edge of Himalayas from where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati witnessed the Mahabarat in Kurukshetra. But more than its religious aspect this place is famous for the scenic landscapes and picturesque views that it offers. If you’re travelling to or near Nahan or even Solan you should definitely take one day out of your plans to visit this magnificent destination.

To get to this destination your trip begins in Nahan, from where you can either take a bus to Shimla/Solan or drive on the Shimla road. If travelling from Solan you do the opposite and take the road to Nahan. National Highway 5 (commonly known as Shimla road) itself harbours a number of spots with panoramic views that sometimes are just breathtaking. The glorious blending of the ending ranges and foothills of the great Himalayas with the great Northern plains is seen quite many times while travelling on this road. You will thoroughly enjoy this ride with your head almost always hanging out of the window in awe of this highway and the beauty it offers. It would definitely not be wise to be the driver yourself if you actually want to enjoy this drive and the sights that it offers.

You can either get off at Kwagdhar from where you trek the rest of the distance or you can take a link road from Panwa which brings you straight to the top of the hill. The trek from Kwagdhar to the temple is a wonderful walk in wilderness, a path canopied by chir pine trees with lush green pastures, solitude and only the mysterious sounds of nature, 2kms from the starting point and taking nearly 1-2 hours. As soon as you reach the summit, you will see a gigantic cliff at the end of the summit with a beautiful temple at one of its edges, deep-deep gorges on two sides and a beautiful pasture with rocks and a shed at its top most point on the other side. The temple itself is a magnificent temple and at its backside the verandah offers a view that you is simply unforgettable.

The majestic never ending northern plains are all you see, hundred or thousand acres of civilization, all as little and minute as ants from this place.  On to the other side you see the tall and majestic Himalayan ranges of Sirmaur Valley. As you move towards the railings and look down at the gorges on two sides, your head will surely get giddy when you realize you high you are. After this you can chill on the black rocks of this cliff or on the pastures all of which encompass the panoramic view of the plains but be careful of the edges which just melt with the gorges.

All in all after a trip to this place you will surely find your mind refreshed, your body relaxed, your heart elated, your social media booming and your time and money all satisfied. Being here, on the top, at what seems like the end, looking down at those ant-houses of human civilization will surely make you feel like you’re actually on the top of the world and fill your heart with ecstasy; with this picturesque view you could even have a titanic moment here.
