Beautiful Sights in and around Kullu
Aren’t you just tired of going to your coveted beautiful destination only to find yourself stuck in a place along with hundreds or even thousands of other tourists? Social media, travel blogs and websites all direct you towards the same place, no doubt they are exquisitely beautiful but they’re mostly overcrowded and wouldn’t you enjoy the beauty of these majestic hills in peace and tranquility. Here are some serene but mostly unheard of sights to visit if you’re travelling to Kullu or Manali
Peej, Kullu – when you pass through the beautiful valley of Kullu you will see pristine mountains on either side. What if you could get to the top of one of those within an hour’s drive? Peej is the summit of the mountain on the right bank of Beas river, only 22 km from Kullu bus stand and is a picturesque sight. With a traditional Kulluvi temple, a little lake, horses, wild flowers, surrounded by lush green pastures and overlooking the beauteous Kullu Valley on one side and the magical mountain ranges of the Lug valley on the other side adjoining a dense pine forest this place will definitely leave you in awe and satisfied.
Goshaini, Tirthan Valley – Tirthan valley has been recently popping up because of social media attention but there’s still so much of this valley that is still to be discovered by tourists. To what seems like the end of a valley is a small one way road that leads to Goshaini located 10 km from Banjar. The 10 km drive which brings you to this village is enough to make it worth your time and money. The village itself located on either banks of Tirthan river is an irenic and mesmerizing village. What makes this place unique is the integration of civilization with nature. The houses are built amidst forests and surrounded by apple orchards and some of the home stays are only accessible by foot bridges built over the river or by ropeways. To make the experience complete there is also a small trail which leads you to a gorgeous waterfall. This place will make you want to revisit this beautiful valley again.
Soyal Village, Naggar – While travelling to Manali from Naggar a link road leads you to Soyal, it's only a 5 minute excursion from the main road which leads you to a small temple where you can park your vehicle. From here you begin a tiny track towards a village; it’s a beautiful footpath with water streams that run alongside. You will find leisure in this walk amidst the gigantic trees with moss and algae all over and cold winds and mist accompanying you until the end which has a beautiful wooden bridge built over a river. There are also resting spots and small huts where you can have some hot beverages, maggie and momos. The ambiance of this place will bring stillness to your mind and pleasure to your body.
Garsa Valley and Bhallan Top, Bhunter – A very low key sight for you to visit the next time you’re planning to go to Kasol or Manikaran is the Garsa Valley. A small beautiful valley only 6 km from Bhunter bus stand is a sight most websites will not tell you about. Though the road is narrow and there are not many hotel facilities available in this area, it is a beautiful valley that you will be glad to visit. Situated in the midst of two huge mountain valleys, you will find yourself amidst apple orchards, thick forest cover all around and a little river with little footbridges made over it that take you to the other bank. A road canopied by pine trees amidst a thick forest will lead you to Bhallan pass where you will see flower laden pastures and a view of the Tirthan Valley. This windy and scenic site is a perfect site for a peaceful and stress relieving day and a good site for photography.
Jalori Pass and Serolsar Lake – A long and tough journey but a trip to Jalori Pass will leave you bewitched; you will be driving through majestic tall Deodar trees with only the sounds of leaves and branches rustling through the wind, the chirps of birds and the distinct sounds of different insects. The flora and fauna of this entire place is quite different owing to its great height and semi-tropical forest vegetation. The forest is magical and spellbinding with a very chilly and misty atmosphere. The pass which is 10,000 feet above sea level has a temple at its highest point and you will be able to watch not only mountains but entire ranges of the Himalayas. An hour’s trek will bring you to a small temple adjoining a beautiful lake surrounded on all sides by lawns of grass where you can rest and take in happiness and peace.
