Bir Billing is the “paragliding capital of India “and is a popular paragliding destination, located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, northern India. This second best paragliding site in the world offer snow-capped mountains, scenic views and enchanting sunsets. Paragliding is one of the most popular adventure sports across the globe and have always attracted large number of adventure enthusiasts. Bir Billing is an absolute paradise for adventure enthusiasts, vacationers and tourists. The favourable weather conditions of Bir Billing offer you to enjoy paragliding at its best.


Bir Billing is a small place yet offers paragliding, mountain biking, trekking, camping and other recreational activities which draw thousands of visitors every year. Bir is a Buddhist town and constitutes several institutions which offer spiritual studies, meditation and ecotourism that attract several students, volunteers, tourists and other people around the world.

Paragliding world cup event (2015) has popularised this small place all over the world which also helped providing employment to local people.

Apart from paragliding and other adventure activities one can explore Tibetan architecture here. Bir Tibetan colony, Bir tea factory, Deer park institute, Dharmalaya Institute, Choking monastery and Sherabling monastery are also the options for explorers.


Where to stay:

Lots of stay options are available here. Bir nest, Chokling guest house, Hipostel, Stupa guest house, Glass house, Bhawani guest house, Dhar malaya institute are available with all basic amenities. Go-stops, Whoopers hostel and Zostel are undoubtedly the most stylish properties in the region. These all options are very close to each other that one can easily search at his own pace.


How to reach Bir :

Flights : There are no direct flights to Bir. Fly to Kangra Airport (Gaggal) first that is almost 68 km away from Bir.

Road: From Chandigarh, Ambala or Delhi rent a car to drive down to Bir Billing. The distance is 280 km from Chandigarh and 485 km from Delhi and 290 km from Ambala.

Bus: From Delhi and Chandigarh there are few bus services for Bir Billing. You can get private bus service as well as State-owned HRTC buses.

Weather: One can visit here at any month of the year. March-May and October-November is considered the best time to pursue paragliding and other recreational activities. Winter fans can visit between November-March as it is the peak season for paragliding.
