If you want to discover tigers and find out what the former hunting grounds of Maharajas of Jaipur like, then Ranthambore National park is one of the Indian national park you will want to visit. This national park is one of the largest and most popular national park in North India, located about 13.5 km from Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan.

The park covers an area of approximately 392 sq km and is divided into 10 zones and zones 1-5 are best for tiger spotting. The park described as a tiger friendly land.

Apart from Bengal tigers Ranthambore National park offers the best and most diverse wildlife with 300 species of trees, 02 types of amphibians, 40 species of reptiles such as marsh crocodile, monitor lizard, turtle, cobra, python and you can spend endless afternoons crocodile watching by the lake.

50 species of butterflies, 40 species of mammals such as wildboar, nilgai, cheetal, sambhar, leopard, hyena, jackal, slothbear and langur and 330 species of birds including pheasant tailed jacana, crested serpent eagle, paradise fly catcher, purple sunbird, painted stork, rufous treepie, great Indian horned owl, king vulture, peacocks, white neck stork, golden-backed wood pecker and ring dove. The seasonal movements of migratory birds here, especially around the lakes, are legendary.     

It is popular holiday destination and a brilliant place to experience the Indian wildlife, where tourists from all over the world flock every year. Its hard not to hope for the tigers when you are here. Ranthambore is an absolute paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and is widely recognised for its National park and tiger reserve.  

Things to do :

Tiger safari : It’s a 4hr jungle jeep safari for tiger spotting and other wild animals as well. No private vehicles are permitted here. There are two jungle safaris a day. Safari timings : 6:30-10am and 1:30-5:30 pm. Apart from this one can visit to Ranthambore fort, jogi mahal, ganesh temple and The Ranthambore school of Art.

Where to stay:


Lots of stay options are available here to fit every budget and most resorts will arrange pick-up/drop from railway station. Most of these resorts are located on Ranthambore road. Sher bag, The fern, Clarks, Omak tiger seven is available with all basic amenities. Ananta palace resort is undoubtedly the most stylish property in the region. These all options are very close to each other, that one can easily search at his own pace.

How to reach :

Flights : There are no direct flights to Ranthambore, fly to Jaipur first that is almost 150 km away from Ranthambore.

Road : You can rent a taxi from Delhi to drive down to Ranthambore, which is 463 km away. Due to bad road conditions its advisable to go by train.

Rail : Sawai-Madhopur is the nearest railway station, which is 15km away from Ranthambore and has a good connection on Delhi line and other major cities of India.

Weather : One can visit here at any month of the year except Jul-Sept, Nov-Feb is considered the best time to visit here.
